Ineed to start this month's article with a confession. When I first heard the topic "Services Marketing" I found myself scratching my head and wondering, "What exactly is service marketing?" I figured whatever it is; I'm obviously not involved. That was my first mistake. Just to be sure, I went to the dictionary to figure this out. To make sure we are on the same page here, let's define "services marketing" as "the marketing of services such as telecommunication services, financial services and other professional services." The key is, it is largely intangible. Well that certainly clears things up, or so I thought. That was my second mistake.

One thing that started to become clear to me was that my company is not involved in service marketing. You could say my lack of expertise in this particular area made the writing of this article a little challenging. On top of the challenges of contributing my monthly article, my company was involved in a rather large, cumbersome project. We have been working diligently to create a working list of clients within a computer program to alert them of weekly blogs I write. The irony of this is as I kept putting off writing my article about service marketing, a topic I claimed to know little about, I was in the midst of the most ambitious service marketing project my company had ever participated in!
